When ordering a customised piece, you can either take the measurements of your existing garment or take your body measurements. Please specify in the 'add order note' section at the checkout which measurements you provided.

TAKING GARMENT MEASUREMENTS

It works best if you provide the measurements of your existing garment that fits you well and has a similar fit as the garment you are about to order.

BUST

Take a garment that fits you well, lay it flat, line up the "0" on the measuring tape at the side seam directly under the armhole or sleeve of your garment. Take the measurement from side seam to side seam (directly under the armhole or sleeve).

Double the measurement to get the circumference - e.g. lying flat waist of 17.5″ is a 35″ waist circumference.

WAIST

Take a garment that fits you well, lay it flat, line up the "0" on the measuring tape at the edge of your garment's waist. Lay the measuring tape across the waist and measure all the way to the opposite edge.

Double the measurement to get the circumference - e.g. lying flat waist of 12.5″ is a 25″ waist circumference.

HIPS

Take a garment that fits you well, lay it flat, line up the "0" on the measuring tape at the edge of your garment's hip. Please measure the widest part of the garment's hip area. Lay the measuring tape across the hip and measure all the way to the opposite edge.

Double the measurement to get the circumference - e.g. lying flat waist of 17.5″ is a 35″ waist circumference.

ARM LENGTH

Take a shirt that fits you well, lay it flat, and measure from the top of the sleeve to the hem.

OR measure your arm:

Short sleeve - Measure the distance between the shoulder and the arm to your desired length.

Bracelet length/below the elbow sleeve - With your arm slightly bent (45-degree bend), measure the distance between the shoulder and the forearm (to your desired length) by passing the tape behind the elbow.

Long sleeve - With your arm slightly bent (45-degree bend), measure the distance between the shoulder and the wrist by passing the tape behind the elbow.

INSEAM LENGTH

Take a pair of pants that fit you well, lay them flat and measure from the crotch to the bottom of the leg as shown in the below photo.

 How to measure inseam length

Tips for Taking Measurements

  • Take all measurements lying flat. Hanging clothes can change shape and stretch as you measure.
  • Make sure the tape is not pulled so tight that it causes a crease in the garment, but don't allow any extra slack either.
  • Use a flexible measuring tape. Don’t try to take clothes measurements with a ruler or metal tape measure. You’ll end up with an inaccurate measurement. If you have no tape measurement handy, you can download a printable measuring online.
  • Measure twice! If you don’t get the same measurement both times, try again.
  • Record measurement to the nearest ¼ inch. Anything more specific is irrelevant but remember lying flat measurements are generally doubled (e.g. lying flat waist of 12.5″ can be understood as a 25″ waist) so a ¼ inch could make a big difference.

TAKING BODY MEASUREMENTS

BUST

Outline the bust (breast) area with a tape measure and breathe normally. Notice the variations as you breathe and record the highest number.

WAIST

Outline with a tape measure your natural waistline.

Stand in front of a mirror with your waist clearly visible. Slightly tilt the torso to the side, visualise the formation of a crease, which indicates the position of your natural waist.

HIPS

With the feet together measure the fullest part of your hip area. Your hip measurements should be taken at where your hips are the widest to make sure the clothes fit accurately. Start at one hip and wrap the tape measure around your rear, around the other hip, and back to where you started. Once you have your measuring tape in place, you may need to move up or down an inch or two to find the widest spot.

ARM LENGTH

Short sleeve - Measure the distance between the shoulder and the arm to your desired length.

Bracelet length/below the elbow sleeve - With your arm slightly bent (45-degree bend), measure the distance between the shoulder and the forearm (to your desired length) by passing the tape behind the elbow.

Long sleeve - With your arm slightly bent (45-degree bend), measure the distance between the shoulder and the wrist by passing the tape behind the elbow.

OR take a shirt that fits you well, lay it flat, and measure the sleeve of an existing garment that you are happy with, from the top of the sleeve to the hem.

INSEAM LENGTH

Measure the internal distance of the leg from the pelvis to the sole of the foot.

OR take a pair of pants that fit you well, lay them flat and measure from the crotch to the bottom of the leg.
